Today, after breakfast, we got on the bus and left for the Mo'okini heiau, a sacred temple.
On the way, we stopped at the site of about fourteen petroglyphs (map point ). I especially liked the petroglyph with a mother and child, and the petroglyph with a dog carved on it.

Afterwards we went back into the bus and had a snack with a view of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. At Mo'okini heiaum (map point ), Ms. Lum (a very nice woman) showed us a brief video of the heiau in her house.

On our way back, we saw a Humpback whale that breached up into the air and down again more than six times. We then went to North Kohala and saw the statue of King Kamehameha I (map point ).
On the way to Hilo where we stayed that evening, we stopped at Akaka falls (map point ), tall waterfalls along the Hamakua coast.
