Early morning clouds provide dramatic contrast with part of the far wall of Haleakala Crater. This is the first stop that one gets to after passing through the Park entrance, and is called Leleiwi Overlook.
There's a trail that you can take on to the floor of the Crater (watch out, its a LONG way, and can take many hours for the round-trip). On this trail, you can look up into the crater, and see some of the younger lava flows in the Koolau Gap.
From the Kalahaku Overlook (further up the road from the Leleiwi Overlook, you can see some of the giant cinder cones on the crater loor (pictures above and below). In the background is Sliding Sands Trail, which you can also walk to get down to the Crater floor.
