Mokoli'i islet, commonly called "Chinaman's Hat", floats just offshore from Kualoa Beach. There are many fine picnic areas and walks along the shore at this State Park, making it a "must-see" part of any drive around Windward Oahu.
Impressive mountain peaks an lush tropical vegetation characterize the Windward side of Oahu, seen here from one of the many park areas at Kualoa Beach.
One is never far from geology when you drive around Oahu. Staring up at the cliffs that form Puu Kanehoalani behind Kualoa Beach Park, one can see the massive aa lava flow units that formed during the growth of the Koolau volcano more than two million years ago.
