Stop 5: Kaena State Park
On the western side of Oahu, the leeward side of the Waianae Range is much drier than the rest of Oahu as it is in a rain shadow. Nevertheless, there are some wonderful parts of the coastline here. A favorite hiking trail is to start at the end of the road just north of Makaha and head towards the northwestern tip of Oahu, which is called Kaena Point. Here we see just one of the many attractive views one gets along the way.
From here you can continue on to Stop 6 , or you can pick another point from the Southwest Oahu Virtual Field Trip page.
