Stop 9: Kaimuki
Like Moilili, Kaimuki is one of the older parts of Honolulu that grew up near the turn of this century. Here we see some views from one of the high-rise apartment buildings that we hope you like.
Looking east, one can get a great panorama from St. Louis Heights (at left), to Kahala (center) and Diamond Head (at right). If you look really carefully, you will also notice a subtle rise just to the left of Diamond Head -- this is an old lava shield that is similar to Mauna Ulu on the Big Island.
Nighttime views of the H-1 Freeway provide interesting pictures (this and the next photo). Officially called an Inter-State Freeway, H-1 only goes around part of Oahu.
From here you can continue on to Stop 10.
